Do we really sound like this?

16 Jan

This video is so viral, it’s the top of most conversations, on Facebook, and has a ton of spinoffs (Stuff PR people say is a favorite) but the reason it’s so funny is because it’s so true.

There are intelligent women out there but I’ve heard all of these sayings all weekend when I was out– listening to people around us at bars, restaurants, etc. Some of the quotes in the video I’ve said myself (Chris got a laugh when we watched it together)

Don’t we have more to say? Are we always talking like this?

Weekend recap

16 Jan

Spending a weekend at home with visitors makes for a great weekend. From Friday night to today, the long weekend was a good one.

Friday night, Chris cooked a great dinner for us and we had the boys and Ali over in Southie. From some wine, Apples to Apples and jokes, it was a relaxing night.

My love (p.s. don't you love that exposed brick?! haha )

Apples to Apples

I worked on Saturday. People still ask why I do it.. I mean who wants to give up every single Saturday to work? The way I see it, I’m not spending money but making it,  have my regular customers that I love (and love me too) and I personally don’t know anything else. I’ve been working since I was 16 on Saturdays, it’s just natural to wake up and go to work on Saturdays.

Saturday night was girls night with my roomie, Big and Cat. We explored Southie and bar hopped while watching the Patriots beat the Broncos. The game before the Pats, the 49ers and Saints was even more exciting! We had dinner at Amrheins Restaurant, drinks at Stats and then The Junction. The Junction was our favorite, even with the weird Words-With-Friends pickup :) Nothing beat the cab ride home thanks to a funny cab driver and my even funnier roommate.

Go Patriots!!

My best watching the Pats together

Sunday, Tina took me to The Paramount in Southie. Paramount’s blog talks about how well it’s already doing in its second location. Given by the long line Sunday morning and amazing food, they are right on target. The fruit bowl is delicious and the egg sandwiches were so good! We’ll be going back plenty of times again in the future. So excited to try more on that menu!

Sunday was errand-running, open house looking with Chris, visiting the family and then dinner with Mike & Becky at our apartment. Chris & Tina- the real cooks- made a Mexican theme dinner for all of us while we watched Tina’s favorite hometown football team win.

Giants won!

To celebrating MLK day today we had a holiday at work. I visited one of my favorite account managers and met her new twins. It was so nice to catch up and see her adorable twin boys.

Here’s to a great short week!

Happy Birthday John!

16 Jan

For those who may thought I flaked on keeping up on one of my new year’ resolutions for this blog– I haven’t, even writing 10 days late..

Two weeks our family celebrated my youngest brother’s 21st birthday.  John is the baby in the family. Even at 21, he impresses me all the time with his maturity, work ethic, knowledge and kindness. He’s so similar to me it’s scary– same moodswings and similar looks. He looks a bit like Tim Thomas and loves the Bruins. I cannot believe he’s finally 21, I remember him as a muddy little kid playing with trucks all day and now he’s a grown man.

Happy Birthday to my amazing little brother.

Maine Vacation

2 Jan

One of my favorite places is the state of Maine. Yes, the whole state of Maine. From spending summers up there with my family to my grandmother’s roots to multiple family members still living there — it’s my favorite place. When Chris and I first met at Bentley, we could spend hours talking about Maine and our love of it.

With a few vacation days left and Chris having his school break, we headed up to Maine after the holidays for our final vacation of 2011. We had dinner at our favorite spot in Portland, Maine- J’S OYSTER. We shared oysters, steamers and had a great time. This place is hidden away and such a gem once you find it. If you’re ever in Portland, it’s a must-stop for delicious seafood. After our great dinner, we made the trek up to Dover-Foxcroft to Chris’ family place.

For a perfect vacation-- red wine and cribbage

With snow on the ground, a bit of a chill in the air and absolutely no cell phone service- it was an ideal vacation to relax, catch up on sleep and have some alone time. Playing cribbage, watching movies (Margin Call, crazy stupid love, ChangeUp, The Help, etc ), reading books and some cooking were our main activities for the week. We saw family and just lost track of days with having no plans or things to do.

Beautiful Maine

Wooden Covered Bridge

We left Maine before the new year to spend it with friends but I couldn’t have thought of a better way to close out and end 2011- together, relaxed and in Maine.

Can’t wait to go back up again!

2012

366 days this year– it is a Leap Year afterall! I want to write, I want to capture it all and I think it’s about time I started using this blog.

I had a great, amazing 2011. I have plenty of things to be grateful for and had absolutely out-of-this-world experiences this year. In just 12 months, I traveled to Aruba, Hawaii and Maine for vacations, attended friends’ weddings in New Hampshire, Maine, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Massachusetts, moved into my first apartment with one of my best friends, turned 25 years old (and had a great birthday with friends and family), celebrated our 4 year anniversary  (now 4 1/2) with Chris, met the newest member of Chris’ family in August :)   , started working in Boston, had a great holiday party with all our loved ones, saw my best friend get engaged and so much more.

Here’s a recap of 2011 in the picture book I made for Chris for Christmas on Shutterfly.

I’m very excited for 2012 and cannot wait to see what it has in store for me. Look for more posts from me.

Here’s to 2012!!
